In my point of view. first I'll analyze the competitor's site and get links from the niche. It will give you more traffic and best quality links.

First of all, you have to choose your keywords.. use Google adwords to check the strength of your keyword..
after that go to forum posting and social network..

but remember to choose the best keywords to guarantee the success!

According to me All Link Building Activities Are best Way of Link Building. But if you will talk about effective Activities then it will be Social Bookmarking Submissions, Social profile Creations and Forum Posting. These Activities Are More Effective Compare to other Activities.
