Domain is a single security boundary of a Windows NT-based computer network. Active Directory is made up of one or more domains. On a standalone workstation, the domain is the computer itself. A domain can span more than one physical location. Every domain has its own security policies and security relationships with other domains. When multiple domains are connected by trust relationships and share a common schema, configuration, and global catalog, they constitute a domain tree. Multiple domain trees can be connected together to create a forest

Domains are much more than just names typed into a Web browser. Your domain name is how the world thinks of you and your business. It's part of your brand and your marketing plan. You can have multiple domains, each concerning one aspect of your business.

The domain represents both the web address of your website and the name your site visitors will use to refer to your website. Domain names were invented to fill a similar need on the Internet.

A domain name is a component of a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) used to access web sites , for example:
    URL: http://www.batdongsan.com.vn/index.html
    Top-level domain name: .vn
    Second-level domain name: batdongsan.com
    Host name: www.batdongsan.com.vn
A domain name may point to multiple IP addresses to provide server redundancy for the services delivered. This is used for large, popular web sites. More commonly, however, one server at a given IP address may also host multiple web sites in different domains. Such address overloading enables virtual web hosting commonly used by large web hosting services to conserve IP address space. It is possible through a feature in the HTTP version 1.1 protocol, but not in HTTP 1.0, which requires that a request identifies the domain name being referenced.
