Your regular visitors or customers who knew your site name as "www*thesitewizard*com" (for example) would not have to be informed about a change of URL. They would simply type your domain name and they'd be brought to your new site.
I have read and want to say you that if you purchase your domain name with the intent to become the brand that you promote, then you better take into account the specific characteristics of the domain. Keywords can play an important role in your brand, especially if it is specific to your industry.

If the domain name is linked to what the site is all about, the chances of getting more of the increased traffic, as is the case in this case the domain name will be more search engine friendly.
