It's true, there are several benefits to using a windows based hosting platform, but personally I prefer a Unix based platform. The main reason being reliability. I have been running my website on a Unix platform for the past eight years, and during that time have only had to do a restart once. I don't think that's even possible with a windows platform. Both systems do have their ups and downs, ultimately, it comes down to preference.
