Need Database Help!

I've been learning mysql and php recently and started practicing with databases. What I want my site to do is a user fills in a forum and clicks submit, and I want the information they submitted to bring up other users profiles that have some of the same information the original user submitted, so its basically a search type thing. When the results come up, I want the other users that are brought up to have their profile picture shown and some of their info to be shown, but shown real small, so the original user can see all his matched results and click on the profile he wants to view. I was just wondering if someone could help me out as to how I would go about doing this. Thanks!
