Great tips. However regarding SEO. Being on the first page means absolutley nothing if you have the wrong keywords and are targeting the wrong market.

PPC can help you even if you don't advertise, as ad tracking is one of the best ways to determine if an affiliate or advertisor is making money in that niche.

Additionally it might be wise to at least test the market with ppc to make sure that the traffic is converting before starting an SEO campaign. SEO can be hard (especially if you don't know what your doing). Why do all that work for nothing?

But for smaller niches (long tail keywords) I agree that SEO can be profitable because it's much easier to rank for those terms (long tails).
